MARY MILLER JONES

Mary Miller Jones, 98, of Andrews died Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2008) at her residence.  A native of Wheeler County, GA, she had lived most of her life in Eastman, GA before moving to Cherokee County from Bremen, GA in 2000.  She was the daughter of the late Morris and Allie Frances Wiggins Miller and the wife of the late Millard Lyman Jones, who died May 2, 1976.  She was a retired teacher and was a member of the Andrews United Methodist Church.



She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helene Jones Powell; a grandson, Jay Bennett; a sister, Hazel Massey; and two brothers, Clyde and M.L. Miller.


Surviving are four daughters, Mary Frances Bennett of Snellville, GA, JoAnne Nixon of Corsicana, TX, Dale Rivers of Knoxville, TN, and Kay Turner of Andrews; a son, Kenneth Wayne Jones of Bremen; a sister, Allene Harden of Brooklet, GA; a brother, Buie Miller of Brooklet; and 20 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday (Aug. 9) in the Andrews United Methodist Church where the body was placed 30 minutes prior to the services with the Rev. Paul Hacklander officiating.  Interment was held at 2:00 PM Sunday (Aug. 10) in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cedar Grove, GA with Dr. Tom Clayton officiating.  Grandsons served as pallbearers.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Mary Miller Jones to the Andrews United Methodist Church, PO Drawer 1310, Andrews, NC 28901.
