Elizabeth “Lizzie” Beaver, 88, of Murphy died Thursday (Jan. 8, 2004) in a Murphy care facility. A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Rance and Mary Jo Webb Fleming and the wife of the late Avery Beaver, who died in 1943. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Martins Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons and their wives, Ben and Betty Plemmons Beaver of Murphy, Lloyd and Vena Roberson Beaver of Elkins, NC, and Frank and Pat Gardner Beaver of Green River, WY; and five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. Funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday (Jan. 10) in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Revs. Hoyt Brown and Aud Brown officiating. Burial in the New Martins Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Brandon and Trent Beaver and Junior and Adam Fleming, Jerry Chastain and Benjie Plemmons. Troy Fleming and Bobby Joe Fleming as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12-1:45 Saturday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
